One day =Father said,
"I see that a circus is coming. Who wanted to see some animals?" "I did!" said =Sandy, "I did!
Have you time to take us? =Susan and I want to go." "A circus?" asked =Susan. "What will we
see there?" "Well," said =Father. "Let me see. There will be some animals. There will be funny
clowns. A circus is good for laughs. You will see something funny
all the time."
=Sandy said, "Please =Father.
Will you take us to the circus?
Three of us can have a circus party." =Mother said, "I will keep the twins. The =March twins go
to
sleep at six."

"I can count two cookies for
=Susan and me," said =Sandy.
"Two cookies are for the twins.
Two cookies and two cookies
are four cookies."
=Susan called to =Mother,
"We will have a funny ride.
The twins will not cry."
They played
with the twins.
=Christmas Morning
It is =Christmas
at the =March family home.
=Peter and =Paul play games.
Playtime is fun.
=Sandy and =Susan sing.
They sing a =Christmas song.
=Mother and =Father look
at television.
=Grandfather and =Grandmother come.
They come for Christmas Day


"I cannot go," calls =GreenPlayHouse.
I cannot go and play.
=LittleGirl may come.
She may come to me.
I want =LittleGirl to say,
See, see.
This house is for me.
I can play and play.
I can have fun all day'."



=Cookie did not stop.
=Susan called to him,
"Stop your play.
See this, =Cookie.
This is =Christmas Day.
It is a good time for us all.
Say something, =Cookie.
Say something to me."



"This is for you," she said.
"=Grandmother and =Grandfather
want you to play in it.
They are good to you.
Come, =Peter. Come, =Paul.
Get in. It is playtime.
Here is your black train.
Here is your little cowboy."
The brown beavers were playing. Then the beaver father saw =Sandy. =Splash went his big black
tail! All the brown beavers went down into the green pond.
=Sandy ran on. He jumped up on an old tree. He did not see =Buttercup.
He did see a little black and white animal. Its tail was up.
`='Shsh!" said =Sandy. "Stop! I saw that animal at the farmer's show. It may look like a black and
white kitten, but it is wild. Let us go back to the house."



''All the beans are in a row,"
said =Susan.
''All the things in the garden
are in rows."
"These are peas," said Aunt =Joy. "They have come up. They are up well. We can eat them
soon."
"We can sing a song," said =Sandy. "So let us sing it now. Help me, =Susan!"
This was =Sandy's song.
"This is the day the peas came up,
This is the day the peas came up,
This is the day the peas came up,
In Aunt =Joy's big garden."



The other children came up to them. Then Miss =Green said, "I have
a good surprise for you, today. I think you will like it." "What is it?" asked the children. "May we
guess?" "You may try," said Miss =Green
with a smile.
"Is it something to eat?" said one. "Is it on television?" asked a girl. "Is someone coming to see
us?" called a boy.
Someone is coming to see us. Listen to me.
I will tell you about my plan."

''Yes
said Miss =Green, "that is it!
When school was out for the day,
all the children did something. Five went to stores. Miss =Green went with them. They went to
get things
for the faraway children. Some children went home
to find things.
At club time they showed
all the things they had. This is what they wanted
to tell the faraway children.
Girls and Boys,
You live far away. We want to help you.

Soon the =March children looked at a little clown.
He played with his pet, too.
His pet was a little yellow kitten.
He let the kitten see his big red leaf. The funny yellow kitten wanted to catch
the big red leaf.
The kitten went with the little clown. =Sandy saw a clown ride in on a toy car.
A dog was in the toy car, too.
This clown took out a green apple. He played catch with it. The dog with the funny tail
hopped out to get the apple. He took it away.
This clown cried and cried. He wanted the green apple.


=Father said
"Here I come.
Can you see the television?
Can you see the cowboys?
Find the cowboys, =Sandy.
Find them in television.
Good! Good!
There are the cowboys.
Yes, we can see them.
Get Mother.
She wants to see hem, too."
"Look," said =Father.
"Here is a =hippityhop."
"Oh, yes!" said =Mother.
"It reads,
`This is a =HippityHopShow'."

"Oh, my!" said =Susan.
"See the= hippityhop go.
It goes =hophophop.
I cannot catch it.
It is in the leaves."

"You can say to =Mother
and =Father,
I can come home.
I can go to school.
I want to go to school, too
In school, I want to read.
I want to count.
I want to sing songs.
I want to play games.
I want to look at =Splash.
I want to see orange
and black caterpillars.
I want to see =HippityHop eat.
I want to catch =HippityHop."'

Miss =Green said,
"I can count two caterpillars.
I see the orange one.
I can see a black one, too.
One orange caterpillar
and one black caterpillar
are two caterpillars.
I can count two caterpillars."
